Assistant Director of Teaching and Learning

Location: Witney Office, Oxfordshire

Status: Full-time, Permanent

Holiday: 25 days

Salary: £45,000

 

We are looking for a highly motivated middle or senior leader to join our professional team in Oxford and to help us provide services and support to our fast-growing global network of HPL World Class and High Performing accredited schools. HPL’s ground-breaking, research-based approach to teaching and learning is setting new standards in education and our schools are progressive and forward looking. Post to commence 1st September 2021

 

Main responsibilities:

  • Deliver our training and coaching support services to schools as part of HPL’s professional team;
  • Accredit Schools and teachers as part of the accreditation team;
  • Engage with school leaders and staff to support their work within the HPL movement;
  • Develop new materials and schemes on behalf of HPL;
  • Manage the collection of exemplar material for HPL Online;
  • Develop leadership for an area of HPL classroom practice

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A deep understanding of the HPL philosophy and framework and how it is used in school
  • A passion for teaching and learning and a proven record of high quality classroom practice
  • Demonstrable experience of training and leading others
  • Evidence of a track record of professional learning leading to a good understanding of current thinking in teaching and learning
  • Expertise in the use of Learning Management Systems, online course delivery platforms (e.g. Zoom and Teams) and course tools (e.g. Padlett, Nearpod, Quizlet, Mentimeter)
    Strong communication and proven networking and engagement skills
  • Be reflective and self-a self-starter, willing to acquire an understanding of working practices in a high quality, fast growing, mission-driven, global enterprise

The number of accredited world class schools and colleges is growing quickly and there is now a substantial body of teachers holding HPL teacher certifications.

Job Description:

  • Deliver our services to schools as part of HPL’s professional team
  • Accredit Schools and teachers as part of the accreditation team
  • Engage with school leaders and staff to support their work within the HPL movement

Key Accountabilities:
a) The delivery of HPL schemes and programmes;

  • Taking responsibility for training, coaching, relationship management and record-keeping of assigned schools so that they make good progress in their school.
  • Ensuring that all assigned schools complete accreditation successfully and operate effectively within the Fellowship of World Class Schools or Global Community.
  • Designing and delivering short courses and professional development courses which gain strong evaluations and meet the target numbers.

b) Leadership of the Global Lead Teacher Scheme

  • Ensuring that this scheme meets its objectives and becomes a vital part of The Fellowship and Global Community subscription offer.
    Designing the annual plan and termly activity plans for the scheme and co-ordinating the delivery of a compelling programme of virtual events TeachMeets, Community Hubs, forums etc,
  • Securing increasing vibrancy as measured by engagement figures.
  • Working with the Founder on the further development and articulation of HPL IP

c) Content management of HPL Online content

  • Working to populate all areas of HPL Online so that it meets participant needs.
  • Collecting and quality assuring contributions from schools via Associates and direct from school, assigning them a location and publicising. 
  • Ensuring that HPL Online needs school needs by undertaking an annual need analysis to inform the annual plan.

d) Course and supplementary support material

  • Contributing to the development of new materials and resources in a way that meets client needs.
  • Co-ordinating and project management of others as required.

e) Thought-leadership

  • Development of new thinking in your chosen area of HPL practice.
  • Communication of that thinking through publication, webinars, talks, and within courses and programme.
  • Increased knowledge and understanding amongst colleagues as a result of your input.

f) Administration and reporting

  • Accurate record keeping and data gathering across all areas of work
  • Effective reporting for CEO and Board Reports

Skills/ Knowledge/ Expertise/Dispositions

  • Strong academic and intellectual capabilities, educated to degree level or beyond
  • Minimum 3 years of British education sector experience
  • Enquiry focused and eager to learn new skills
  • Demonstrated ability to gain confidence of senior education staff and organisations
  • Demonstrable ability to manage a diverse workload; being able to prioritise work and working under pressure
  • Very strong organisational skills, written skills and attention to detail
  • Able to influence and persuade others in order to gain results
  • Understanding of risk management data-safety and online data protection

Core Role:

 Growing the reach of the business in its strategic areas, you will:

  • Grow our network of leaders in schools and school groups in the independent and maintained sector in UK and, as required, with the global network of international schools
  • Create leads and manage relationships in order to build a strong pipeline of schools interested in adopting HPL and manage their progression through to formal recruitment
  • Grow and manage the compelling network of HPL Supporting Partners

Key Responsibilities:

  • Researching our market sector and identifying opportunities for expanding our network.
  • Building long-term relationships across the education sector, including working closely with HPL contacts of client schools to influence and accelerate sector appetite for adopting HPL.
  • Developing a strong recruitment pipeline of leads to meet or surpass quarterly targets using strong people skills to engage and persuade possible clients to move to recruitment.
  • Account management of interested schools and school groups, nurturing leads and inbound enquiries and managing their progression to recruitment into HPL adoption programmes
  • Maintaining accurate administrative records in the HPL (CRM) system ‘Highrise’ to track touchpoints in the recruitment cycle.
  • Producing monthly professional reports to the CEO and Board of Directors on network growth, leads and pipeline and recruitment
  • Representing HPL at industry events to network and deepen your understanding of developments in education
  • Supporting the CEO with school visits, webinars and business development platforms.

Candidate Qualities:

Education: Graduate with a strong academic record and skills.

Experience: 3-5 years in a target driven business development role, desirably in education or publishing, managing client relationships and delivering outstanding customer service to achieve results

Dispositions: Out-going and confident with a strong interest in education and a passion for learning. Belief in the HPL vision and be able to articulate its proposition and power. Demonstrated ability to manage clients through the customer lifecycle and deliver to agreed time, budget, and targets.

Skills: Quick learner with the ability to absorb new information and challenge ideas. Strongly analytical, comfortable with both qualitative and quantitative concepts. Good attention to detail. Excellent skills in communicating complex concepts in a structured way. Confident in written and spoken communications to senior school staff, often the principal or head of school. Full driving licence, car owner and right to work in the UK.
