Kate Slipper GLT 123pxWe are delighted to announce our latest Global Lead Teacher. Kate Slipper, Lead Practitioner of Learning and Teaching from Sydenham School, UK, will be sharing her expertise of applying HPL in her specialist subject of Fine Art.

In her role, Kate works to deliver professional development through a range of training programs. She also delivers more bespoke mentoring and coaching to teachers across the school, at all stages of their careers, from NQT through to new leadership positions. Kate is the Professional Coordinating Mentor for her school delivering an extensive Initial Teacher Training program for PGCE, Schools Direct and Teach first.

Kate has implemented many whole school initiatives to drive learning forwards across the school, both within subject areas and on a pastoral level. She also works with a network of local schools to extend and develop pedagogy across all Key stages. In her subject area of Visual Arts, Kate has expertise through her experience of being a curriculum leader as well as completing the Artist Teacher MA at Goldsmiths College. Understanding that HPL is a framework that can grow with pedagogical research is fundamental to her practice. Through this research Kate’s practice is grounded in pedagogical approaches including the principles of instruction, cognitive load theory, deliberate practice and retrieval practice.
